New Crockery
We are always looking for ways to upgrade Loch Riddon Bothy. The crockery had been bothering me for some time so I finally decided to do something about it. We wanted to choose something made in Scotland and preferably Argyll – a long internet search started but nothing seemed to suit.
On a visit to the Hayshed Gallery to top up on soap from Argyll Botany and coffee from Argyll Coffee Roasters the solution suddenly appeared.
It had been staring me in the face all the time! I decided to ask Karen McPhail at the Drey Workshop if she would make two sets of crockery. She seemed delighted and we spent some time discussing sizes and shapes.
The finished result is more than I could have hoped for. She used her signature terracotta clay and finished the inside of the pieces with a white tin glaze – stunning.
Karen has also offered to make a set for anyone visiting the Bothy to take home.
A few more pictures of the plates and bowls in the making…
